Overall Purpose of the Office

  • To give general direction and leadership to the Council of Legal Education in the achievement of its vision, mission, strategies and annual goals and objectives.
  • To implement the strategic goals, objectives and mandate of the Council.
  • Administer the day to day operations of the Council in line with Council policy and national goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out the duties of the Secretary to the Council.
  • Provide administrative and managerial services of the Council.
  • Plan, develop and coordinate a regulatory framework for legal education providers under the Legal Education Act No. 27 of 2012.
  • Plan, develop and coordinate a successful strategic direction for the Council.
  • Plan, develop and provide an effective and efficient management system of the council assets and facilities, including human, financial, administration and information management resources;
  • Plan, develop and oversee a quality assurance system of all activities of the Council of Legal Education.
  • Plan, develop and oversee marketing, public relations and community interests of the Council.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Council of Legal Education.
